Boring Bali

Yogyakarta really doesn't have much to see once I covered Borobudur, so off I went to the next stop on my trip; Bali, the main tourist attraction around in Indonesia. Being the cheap guy I am, I elected to take the bus there rather than fly. This would be a longer trip than the train I took from Jakarta to Yogyakarta; total travel time from Yogyakarta to Bali was about 16 hours. I would be travelling overnight, so it wasn't terrible. Dinner, blankets were provided, not bad for 30 bucks.

I slept most of the way there, waking up in the early hours around 4am as I usually do(still some jet lag). The bus was just about to take the ferry and sail to Bali, the island resort. Up on the observation deck were some nice views of the island:

Arriving in the bus terminal in Bali, it was still a hassle to get to the hostel I saw in my trusty Lonely Planet guidebook. But find it I did! After checking in I had a look around town.

Local restaurant, good stuff here.

Walmart just shows up everywhere.

Beaches as far as the eye can see!

There weren't that many people on the beach. Why? Because I picked a really shitty time to come to Bali, where it's raining all day and generally just miserable. There are tons of resorts and hotels, upscale boutiques, expensive restaurants, and rich white foreigners, but really, I came for the beach and the rain just ruined it. I don't want to stay here for long, it's on the expensive side, so I'll be out of here pretty quick I think. Where will I go? I'll figure that out tomorrow.
